Hi and welcome to my latest Dogblog.
Do you remember last time I mentioned a holiday that I was going on? Well it happened - thanks to mum and somebody who compiles the football fixtures. Back in June last year when they were released she noticed that Ipswich were playing away at Newcastle one weekend and then Everton (which is in Liverpool) the following weekend, both up north (but not that close to each other).
'We could go away for a couple of weeks and take the boys' (me and Luther, not Sam & Max lol). 'You could go to both the games'. Sold to the man with the ITFC season ticket (dad)! Everyone's a winner, (apart from Ipswich, who lost at Newcastle and then drew at Everton).
After an early start we stopped at Durham for breakfast. I hadn't felt too good leading up to the holiday but I didn't make a fuss about it, although I did throw up in the car park |
Christ we're nearly in Scotland - did they miss the turn off for Newcastle? |
Turns out we were staying in a little village near Berwick-Upon-Tweed called Norham |
But first we had our first swim of the holiday |
Our gaff for the week |
Checking out the local area |
F**k me that's Scotland over there, let's hope we can go there |
The bank down to the Tweed was quite steep but it didn't stop me going down for a dip |
Only problem was I couldn't get back up, I'm not as strong as I used to be so dad had to do a Rolf Harris Pet Rescue! |
Lol - imagine if he had of slipped in the river |
That's The Ladykirk and Norham Bridge behind us, one of only three bridges along the Tweed that cross the border between England and Scotland. It connects Norham in Northumberland with Ladykirk in the Scottish Borders |
Phew no customs or passport control! |
Scottie dogs 🏴 |

Here's a nice picture of me |
And Luth |
Back in Blighty |
Off we go again |
Having a rest by a fisherman's hut |
There's the Union Bridge behind us which crosses the Tweed between Horncliffe, Northumberland and Fishwick in the Scottish Borders |
It was the longest wrought iron suspension bridge in the world when it opened in 1820 |
Into Scotland |
Another cross border accomplished |
Down by the river
We went on The Lowry Trail a long walk around Berwick, Tweed and Spittal to locations where he painted and sketched various scenes |
He used to go there on holiday he also painted Matchstick men and matchstick cats and dogs! |
We also found time for a swim |
And a play |
At last we're done - we walked and swam over seven miles |
Another exciting day coming up |
A day out in Edinburgh |
By train |
Walking up to Arthur's Seat |
Bloody hard work walking up there at my age but helluva views when we made the summit |
Edinburgh Castle |
We needed ice cream after all of that activity - Who knew Scotland could be so hot |
Back in Norham |
Back in Scotland! |
Mum getting in on the selfie mode |
Our last sortie into Scotland was on Friday morning on the way to Port Sunlight |
We had to cross the third border bridge over the Tweed, The Coldstream Bridge which links Cornhill-on-Tweed, Northumberland and Coldstream, Scottish Borders |
We arrived in Port Sunlight in the afternoon and then after unpacking (we didn't) had a short drive along the Wirral to Wallasey. You can see Everton's new football ground on the opposite side of the Mersey |
They had a beer in The Ferry afterwards, we had a bowl of water. The pub was used in the BBC drama series This City Is Ours. It's about gangsters in Liverpool |
Port Sunlight is a village built by Lever Brothers in the 1890's for the workers of the adjacent soap factory. Our house is in the row behind us |
Another film location, Tommy Shelby walked across the bridge in Peaky Blinders |
"This establishment is under new management, by ordah of da peaky fookin bloinders" |
We had a ride and aswim at New Brighton beach |
And another ice cream |
Posing with The Fab Four on a day out in Liverpool |
Ferry Cross The Mersey |
And then a pizza at The Albert Dock |
Last day in Port Sunlight |
Another Peaky Blinders location - Aunt Pol's Cottage |
Well that was an unexpected treat, me an' Luth had a great time up north and the weather was really nice, can't wait for the next one!
That's all for now, thanks for reading my latest Dogblog.
See you next time
Lots of love from Rudie THE Dog xx
