Settle Down Now

Hey everyone I'm back to tell you about week two of the post Lockdown 3 holiday that was spent in the Yorkshire Dales. Could it be as good as last week and would the nice weather continue to stay kind to us?

It was an 80 mile drive from Caldbeck to Settle so we had plenty of time to stop for a couple of walks along the way. Breakfast above Kirkby Stephen was the first stop

Followed by a walk high in the Dales

Where we found a Cairn

Mum likes to watch 'Our Yorkshire Farm' on Channel 5. It's a documentary about farming life high in the Yorkshire Dales at Ravenseat Farm. The farmers have got 9 kids, that's a big litter, probably not a lot to do at night! Anyway it was just off our route so we drove down to have a look

Next stop Hawes where we parked up and went for a walk up stream. The river beds were so dry just like in the Lake District

Aysgill Force waterfall - not so forcefall

Time to freshen up

Settling in in Settle

We had a nice surprise on Sunday morning, Emily drove over from Leeds to see us

Everybody smiling

Sunday afternoon at the Talbot Arms

'Well behaved children and dogs welcome'

Garden service only

Another sunny Monday, perfect for our circular walk to the summit at Whernside via the Ribblehead Viaduct

It's the second of The Yorkshire Three Peaks

And also our second one

We walked up Pen-y-ghent (in the background) last year

High above Greensett Tarn

The summit at Whernside a perfect place for lunch

You can see Ingleborough the third of the YTP's behind us, perhaps we'll climb up that one day?

 723 metres above sea level

Cor look at them views

The Ribbleshead Viaduct looks tiny

Leaving Whernside behind

Time for a rest by the viaduct

that was a great walk but no swim!

Here we are back in Hawes sporting our brand new leads from the The Ropemaker

Another waterfall walk, up to Hardraw Force

Luther having a rest

Yes please

Shall we go out today?

After twelve dry days we finally got a little rain on our walk above Settle

Making ripples in the Ribble

A circular walk around Malham Cove (we like circles)

We had to walk through a cow field at the start of the walk - a real no no even though they were well in the distance! Cor that was tense between mum and dad lol

Blimey Judge Roban has turned up...

...if you've watched Spiral you'll know what I mean!!

On top of the cove

Gordale Scar

Dry as a bone

Luther diving into Janet's Foss - no innuendo implied, it's the name of the waterfall!

Oh go on then

The last day of the holiday

And we're staying local

That's the end of our river walk, there's no way that she's going through there

Well I have to say that I really enjoyed the two week holiday. It was perfect for a dog, I hardly saw any humans on our walks so didn't have to behave myself as much as normal or go on a lead as much, mum and dad hardly left us as everything seemed to be still closed so we got loads of attention.

Lockdowns and the Covid pandemic may be a real pain for humans but selfishly I'm lapping it up, the new normal really suits me, but I know it won't last forever - or will it?!

That's all for now but make sure to look out for my next blog when I'll tell you all about the Italian pain in the arse who has entered my life, and it's got nothing to do with Euro 2020.

Lots of love

Rudie THE Dog xx
