The Scone Roses

This pandemic is really playing into my paws - I've never had so many holidays! In June we managed to book a last minute trip up to Scotland for a week.

Our breakfast stop on the A1 at Grantham

I think that I like the Ferrybridge services more as there's more room for a run there

We had a nights stayover in Yorkshire on the way up near to Muker in the Dales

It broke the journey up nicely and we went on a really good walk

Although as often happens we took a wrong turn, I think they need to go on a map reading course

The Stile listics

That looks inviting

Oh well back along the road we go

Back in Muker after mucking up with the directions

Our overnight accommodation in the Dales. The Tan Hill Inn - the highest inn in the UK

And it's in the middle of nowhere

See what I mean

We had a good night there, they had a big screen in the barn and so mum & dad took us to see the Scotland v England Euro game. To be honest I slept through most of it, I think it was a boring 0-0 draw, not sure what that means really. Afterwards there was live music outside so we all had a late night

Breakfast

Followed by a quick walk before heading to Scotland

We stopped just across the border from England in Gretna Green where we did a circular walk. You can see England across the the other side of the River Esk

Our walk took us back in to England briefly

Our first scottish walk was from Scone where we were staying, up to two hilltop monuments - Macduff's Monument and the Lynedoch Obelisk

Here's the first one

The Macduff Monument

And then further up was the Lynedoch Obelisk

Lol 'Golf in progress' that's another rum ol' game!

Thanks for the warning I'll tell mum

Back in Scone

Ending the walk at the pub

Our home for the week

Scone Palace

Thankfully they're not real

Luther at The Stone Of Destiny, where Scottish kings were once crowned

My turn to be king

There were several Peacocks roaming around, cor they're rum ol' birds

Cooling down

Another day, another walk, this one was from Blairgowrie

Another circular one

Through Darroch Wood

And on to Fingask Loch

Don't mind if I do

Wednesday in Perth

And a walk along the Tay river, the longest river in scotland

It's lovely in here

Luther taking time to enjoy the art underneath the A9

We stopped to watch somebody fly fishing further along the river, very confusing

We followed the river for over 6 miles to Luncarty and then got a bus back to Perth

I enjoyed that

The next day we drove to Dunkeld for another walk along the Tay

Play time by the A9

Walking underneath the Perth to Inverness railway line

On our way back to Dunkeld on the other side of the river

Our last day in Scotland and we walked up Moncrieffe Hill

There were lot's of carvings along the way

Cor I found a lovely mud bath

We made it

High above Perth and the River Tay

Because I got muddy and stunk mum and dad had to take us back into Perth for a freshen up...

...I love it when a plan comes together!

All fresh

An early Saturday morning start for the 450 mile trip home

Back in England near Berwick and only 350 miles left. To be honest me an' Luth slept all the way home, we'd had a full on week and were absolutely knackered

That's it another adventure done. Next time I'll tell you how me, Luth and Enz really pissed off a whole country and ruined the summer for them!

lots of love from Rudie THE Dog xx
