The Yorkshire Tripper

At last I've got some time to tell you all about my holiday. It seems so long ago now and to be honest with you I've been so busy enjoying the summer that I couldn't be arsed to do a blog!- I know it's a bad attitude to have, but hey!
The thing of being a dog is that you rely on your keepers to make sure that you have a good life, in mine and Luther's case we're quite lucky and dare I say it a little bit spoilt - I chose well!
It was the usual early morning departure for a dog holiday, just about getting light as we left home. We were heading up north to Yorkshire, staying with Paul and Gail for the weekend before heading down to Norfolk, yes you read that right, NORFOLK - FFS!

We arrived in Knaresborough after a four hour journey to find that Paul and Gail had laid on a welcome drink, well that's what we thought. It turned out to be a bird bath and after having a big drink I threw up on their lawn - not a good start to our visit!

We went out on a two mile walk that afternoon, which turned out to be nearer eight! I didn't realise that the worlds end was in North Yorkshire - I thought it was North Korea!

As soon as I got off my lead I knew I was in for a good time, a quick piss and I was away

It was only a matter of minutes before we discovered water aka The River Nidd

Time for refreshments at The Gardners Arms

A couple of hours later we were back in Knaresborough at the Mother Shipton Inn

Dog rules

But they didn't stop us from getting back in the water!

Saturday morning and we had to go to Harrogate so that dad could do the Parkrun there. Well if it keeps him happy 😂 Me and Luther played with Paul rather than run it

Afterwards we drove up to Burnsall which is in the Dales for another two mile walk, or so we thought. Cor the first thing we saw was a river

And it wasn't long before we were in it!

'What you looking at?'

Haha Gails falling for me 😉

Time for a scooby snack?

It was a bit bleak up there, don't they have summers in Yorkshire?

'Mmmm I think we're outnumbered Luth!'

I really should have dragged him in 😂

You might think 'Ah what good boys sitting there' We were actually watching them eating ice creams - bastards!

Here's a map of our route they walked 11.5 miles, me an' Luth must have doubled that plus the swimming 👊🏿

Much needed fuel

And rest!

We were left at home in the evening while they went out for an Indian, they brought us some Chapatis back for breakfast though

Cor you're  a long way up

Sunday and we discovered that yes they do have summer in Yorkshire so we headed for the seaside

The beach at Sandsend - how is a dog ever going to find £1000 to pay to poo on the beach?

We walked from Sandsend to Whitby how far do you think it was - two miles?

The dog police were in Whitby too

Luther posing at Whitby Bay

Now you're talking 🐶

So we learnt that Count Dracula is synonymous with Whitby - we did see a few 'Goths' there and the shops are full of weird stuff, we brought these bat biscuits from The Fuzzy Dog Bakery. There's a story about them but I'll save it for part two of my holiday blog
They all look pleased with themselves

After walking around the town we headed back along the beach to Sandsend

What a great day!

Here's a map of our route only 8.7 miles for them
We stopped at Ripon on the way back - Paul had a special treat for us but we had to wait until 9pm for it so we went to the pub!

It was the Ripon Hornblower, he comes out every night at 9pm and blows his horn on each corner of the Obelisk 'Setting The watch'. It's a tradition dating back over 1100 years and people come from all over the world to see it!

We managed to get a photo with him - he looks very chuffed

Monday morning and after breakfast by the river it was time to say goodbye to Paul & Gail

We had a brilliant time staying with them and they were so nice to us, I hope we can go again

I'm going to leave it there for now I know how boring holiday photos and stories can be, but never fear I'll be back soon with more from Norfolk - 'Nelson's County'!
