Goodbye 2021

Welcome back for more words of wisdom and photos from my latest blog.

The seasons changed big time from Summer into Autumn while we were away in Cornwall, the leaves were mostly down, the days were getting shorter, it was colder and the clocks had changed. Why do you do that by the way? Not that I can tell the time - I only noticed because I was hungry at 5pm and pestering mum and dad for grub, we usually get fed around 6pm. I think that it took at least a week for my stomach to adjust to the new timings.

Remembrance Sunday, we're both starting to look like distinguished gentlemen with our grey hair

Farting by an open fire one of the joys of winter, I'm amazed that the flames never turn blue!

Getting the last of the daylight in my woods

Our beach was a sea of leaves when we got home from Cornwall

Another birthday party

Down at Felixstowe

Enzo came too

Sea dogs

Happy 6th birthday to Luther

The oldest puppy in the world

Aaah mum made him a cake, have you ever seen a dog blow out candles? It doesn't happen to be honest

Yum yum, Enzo missed out cause he had to go home, don't let him see this photo FFS!

We had a production line of Christmas Trees in late November inspired from one of my favourite walks at Shingle Street

Here's the inspiration this photo was taken in January as a template reminder

These three are small ones for me an' Luth, Enzo and Barney to put outside our kennels!

Fast forward a few weeks and here's the finished product complete with baubles, lights and a star

Here's ours #festivepups

In the meantime we met up with Enz for a few walks

At various times of the day

My winter woods

Surveying the scene

It's beginning to look a like lot like Christmas

Mum was determined to have a good Christmas after last years shit show which was a non event because of Covid, the tree went up at the start of December

Somewhere over the rainbow

Back to Martlesham Heath

To show Enz the Elf

It might well have been December but there was still time for one more dog holiday

Stopping off at Levens Deer Park near Kendal on our way up to Windermere

Our home for the next week in Windermere. Mum and dad usually fly away for their anniversary but due to the restrictions they couldn't go abroad - another pandemic plus for me an' Luth

Labradors and a Log Burner

Labradors and a Lake

Paul and Gail came to stay for a couple of nights with us

Lake Windermere the largest lake in England

Ho ho ho

We were going to go on a boat trip on Tuesday morning but it got cancelled due to fog

I have to say we struck out with the weather in the Lakes, lots of rain, cloud and fog, mind you we've been really lucky up till now

It didn't deter me an' Luth enjoying ourselves though

F**k, f**k, f**k, the second day running we've been for a walk, only to find the path closed due to storm damage from Storm Arwen a couple of weeks previous. We wanted to walk up to Orrest Head

Mum spoke to somebody who had been up and they told her it was fine so up we went

A bit foggy

We made it and were rewarded with seeing a blue sky, you can see Lake Windermere shrouded in fog below

Back down at lake level at The Sun Inn - aptly named!

We stopped off there for a drink and a photo by the Christmas Tree

the sun finally came out on Friday - our last day, so we walked up to Orrest Head once more before coming home

Lots of storm damage

That was the end of our holiday adventures for 2021

Enzo gets really excited when he has his photo taken and always wants to show his 'Pinky' off - thank heavens for airbrushes!!

Swim time at Felixstowe

The boy Enzo is getting really good

Enzo and daddy Max

FFS as if we look like deer

For the second year running Coronavirus completely f**ked up Christmas, there was a new variant called Omicron which was spreading like wildfire.
The original plan was to have a big Christmas dinner at Enzo's with about 14 people and 3 dogs, every human had to do a lateral flow test before going, partly to protect the oldies but also Max & Steph were planning on going to Barbados for the new year.
On Christmas Eve Sam drove home from Bristol, opened a beer, insisted on doing a test ('To get it out of the way') and tested POSITIVE!

Christmas morning Parkrun while Sam drove to Ipswich for a PCR test

He doesn't look very ill

So after some door step swaps of food at Enzo's it was just mum, dad, Sam and us for dinner

So me an' Luth had a relatively quiet day and a massive Christmas dinner, it was a shame we couldn't meet up with Enz though

Look what we got, a new blanket with us at the Ribblehead Viaduct printed on it. We actually got one each, I'll show you the other one later

We met up with Col & Rosie at Shingle Street for a post Christmas walk and swim

They were looking after their friends dog Misty

Our last swim of the year

She's looking very pleased with herself. Today marked the 12th month running that mum had walked a 100 miles plus per month during 2021 with us two. Another pandemic plus!

Here's the proof - she used our Strava account to record it

That's another year over, a very good one for us dogs, not so good for the human race. Next time I'll tell you about Enzo's 12 day stay at our house.
Lots of love
