Relief In Portreath - Cornwall After Another Lockdown

Happy? New Year. We're four weeks into Lockdown 3 so I thought it was time that I had a catch up. It seems ages ago that we managed to sneak in a trip to Cornwall.

Breakfast time in Yoevil. The first road trip in our new car, so far so good

We booked the trip for December 5th as Ipswich were playing at Plymouth and dad was hoping to go to the match, fortunately for me and Luther Covid restrictions meant only 2,000 home fans were allowed in to watch
Which meant that we got to Portreath early and managed to get our first swim of the holiday

We stayed in a cottage on a farm just outside Portreath

Home from home for us

Sunday morning in Tehidy Country Park

This is me an' Luth in a nutshell, me in a puddle and him with a stick

Portreath

We went a bit further round the coast for a swim at Porthtowan

Back to Portreath for Sunday dinner aka a 'Substantial meal'. Cornwall was put into tier 2 after lockdown 2, we were in tier 3 which meant that officially we could only go into a pub if we had a substantial meal (unfortunately that didn't include dogs!)

Today we became Labrador legends

We went to The Lizard, the most southerly point in mainland Britain, so this year in between lockdowns we've been to the most Northerly, Southerly, Easterly and Westerly points - how many dogs can say that?

The old Lizard lifeboat station

The Lizard lighthouse

A plaque in memory of the Bugaled Briezh a trawler which sunk off the coast in 2004

Warning a bull in the field

Back in the village

Off to Kynance Cove

Posing for a Christmas card

We don't make it easy!

Another walk along the coastal footpath from Trevaunance Cove St Agnes

Time for a swim

And another Christmas pose

And another

The boss... with his dad!

Portreath to Bassets Cove on the Coast Path

And back

So Wednesday night mum and dad left us in and went to Carn Brea Castle for dinner high above Redruth, they took us back up there the following morning to enjoy the views

There's also a big monument up there

Great views up here

Next stop was Smokey Joe's Cafe in Redruth - a bit spit and saw dust but we don't mind

Before driving to the Wheal Coates Tin Mines between St Agnes and Porthtowan

This is my Captain Poldark pose, on the lookout for Demelsa. No I didn't see her!

Chapel Porth beach, mum said it was too rough for us to go in, FFS!

'Danger mineshafts Please keep to the footpaths' - now you tell us

So we went the short distance to Porthtowan

One of dad's favourite people Greta Thunberg or as he calls her 'Greta Nofunbird'!

What better way to finish the day for us

What better way to finish the day for her, she redeemed herself. I don't recall any substantial meals being eaten there, mind you after all of the grub they ate at the cafe earlier I'd have struggled to eat anything. Not really!!

Last day of the holiday and a walk from Penrose to Porthleven

The tide is high and splashing us on the path

Porthleven the most southerly port in Great Britain

It was too rough to swim at Porthleven so I'm making do with a puddle

The rainbows end

A muddy walk which usually ends well

Today was no exception we had a clean up back in Portreath

Oh Dear!

During the week dad found out that he had been lucky (or unlucky) enough to get a ticket for the Ipswich v Portsmouth game on Saturday (in tier three upto 2,000 fans can attend a match) so we left Cornwall at 5am so he could go.
We dropped him at 12pm at The Woolpack after having a walk in Christchurch Park. Ipswich lost 0-1 by the way!
So that was that, our final holiday of 2020 was finished. I have to say as usual I had a really great time. Me an' Luth have been so lucky this year I almost feel bad capitalizing on your human misery during this pandemic, but as with all dogs we're here to give you comfort, love and make you feel better about what is a shitty time. It won't be long until you're all mixing with each other and putting us in kennels or with other people while you rediscover the world.

I'll catch up with you soon but until then Stay Safe.
Lots of love
Rudie THE Dog xx
