Lockdown With The Labs

How are you all doing in lockdown? Wow your lives have changed a lot more than mine!
All of a sudden you can't travel, lots of you can't go to work, schools are shut along with pubs, restaurants, theatres etc. For the first seven weeks you were not allowed to meet anybody from another household or any family.
It all became a dogs life from March 24th! I have never seen so many people out walking, cycling & running. Me an' Luth have discovered lots of new walks from home.
Here is my take on it so far.

Boris telling you to 'Stay Home - Protect the NHS - Save Lives'

Day one - time to start those maintenance jobs

Tiring work

Our first taste of lockdown. 3pm and the place is deserted, the Main Road would normally be really busy

A fresh deck

One of the downsides of lockdown is that a lot of people have discovered my woods, hopefully by next year they'll have forgotten about them

Getting ready for some nice weather

It was really quiet during the first few days

Bell Lane deserted

One of our many walks which took in Foxhall Stadium

We're on a 6 mile walk to get a Sunday paper!

The biggest minus for me an' Luth was knowing that we couldn't go out in the car - so no trips to the seaside and you know how much we love the water

A freak hail storm

Walking over the empty A12

When will The Red Lion reopen?
Oh well we tried! The boot was open so we jumped in

Social distancing and hand sanitizer a must for shopping. Duncan's Butchers & Bakery at Martlesham is just over a mile from home, it has now become part of a five mile walk

Who needs to see a leopard in a tree!

Me an' Luth' have got our own Strava account now, we used it to do a 10 day challenge to fundraise for the NHS

Here's our badge
King kong

Another day, another deck! Pressure washed but no sealed as the shops are shut

Like many other gardens during lockdown ours is all tidy and looking good

Cor that's not fair!
Milsoms on a lovely day and not a soul in sight

Another walk for bread

Suffolk Police Headquarters

The gorse is looking good on Martlesham Heath

This is what is left of the RAF Martlesham Heath runway

We found lot's of new trails and walks from home but they didn't all work out well

A couple of fences later
Luther practicing his 2 metre distancing

The former USAF transmitter station at Foxhall used in WW2 and the Cold War. Rumour has it that there is a massive secret bunker underneath, which is why it's still surrounded by fields.

April was like the middle of summer

Us dogs don't have to worry about social distancing

Another trip to the bakers!

Still no traffic about
It's now Easter and we're quite happy being 'Locked down Labs', we're getting longer walks and more attention than normal. Then I find out that we should have been going on a road trip to Snowdonia, all of a sudden I got an inclination of what you lot are going through, missing out on the good things in life. Hopefully we'll get to go there when life gets back to normal.

Not quite 'Cat on a hot tin roof!

Luther taking a short cut down
Covid-19 notices are everywhere
Not quite the seaside but needs must
The weather's a bit better than last time we crossed this bridge

Part of my woods that we don't go to very often

We had a walk around Sinks Pit which is behind my woods

What the f**k is quick sand?

No it's not a chapel, it's the pump house for the lake

Another walk around Foxhall Heath & the stadium

Millenium Green

Back to Milsoms we go

Another walk via the Foxhall towers

So it's at this point me an' Luther thought that the lockdown was getting to mum & dad and that they were losing the plot. They got semi obsessed with 'Tiger King' which was on Netflix. He'd been through his beard growing phase and then shaved it to a goatee and made me pose as a tiger for f**ks sake! Here we are, I'm a tiger, he's Jeff Lowe
Here's the real thing - thankfully they got over it!

A walk to Fynn Valley

We found some water

And then some which was cleaner!

And later on another stream

where we met up with a couple of other dogs

He's so dopey!

Well that's the first few weeks of lockdown done, we've been lucky enough to have space and to get out and enjoy ourselves, I can't imagine being a dog stuck indoors and only allowed outside for a poo once a day like they were in parts of Europe.
On May 13th Boris (who looks a bit like a sheepdog) lifted the lockdown slightly which meant that we were allowed back in the car. Next time I'll tell you where we went, until then.
Stay alert, control the virus, save lives
