Mega Busy in Mevagissey

Hi Everyone

I'll tell you about part two of our holiday and hopefully won't bore you too much. We left Somerset after spending two nights there and headed down to Cornwall (so exciting!) We finally arrived in Truro at lunchtime after battling some holiday traffic. Mum had a shop visit there so us boys had to entertain ourselves for a couple of hours or so.

We managed to find a river and had our first swim of the holiday
In Tresillian just outside Truro
There also happened to be a pub there so everyone was happy
We got to Mevagissey at teatime and checked into our apartment which was on top of the cliffs overlooking the sea
Heading into town to check it out
Can you believe that we were subjected to shopping, girlie shopping at that - just when you want to see a 'No dogs allowed' sign! That's the beauty of Cornwall, Dogs have almost equal rights
On Sunday afternoon we went for 7 mile walk (well me and Luther did at least twice that),  around the coast to Gorran Haven and back along the lanes

There was some nice scenery along the way, if you're in to that sort of thing
Gorran Haven beach
Time to cool off

Back to Mevagissey we go, along the lanes

Portmellon 'selfie'

We got back to Portmellon and stopped off at The Rising Sun for a drink, they only had enough money for two halves, that's after buying ice creams in Gorran Haven

Mum wearing her new hoodie which she had brought earlier in the day

Dinner time at the Sharksfin
Another ice cream - just sayin'
Luther doing his best to get in trouble!
On board the Mevagissey to Fowey ferry - Luther's first trip on a boat
It was a thirty minute trip along the coast
Fowey's claim to fame is that a famous author once lived there - Daphne du Maurier. Alfred Hitchcock loosely based his film 'The Birds' on her book of the same title, I wouldn't know as I've never read a book in my life!

They had a beer, we got water, after we had wandered around for a couple of hours
Back on the ferry for the return trip
We made it!
The Kings Arms - one of their favourites
The 'Dog friendly' Crantock beach near Newquay

Luther loved it
We found ourselves a tennis ball there, which was really handy

We more or less had the beach to ourselves
#beach
Nice view of Mevagissey harbour

Boys day out. We did another seven mile circular walk, this one was from Mevagissey to Pentewan and back along the cliffs

It was quite an adventure, first we lost Luther for about ten minutes or so, he had decided to do a runner. Then we heard a car crash on that bridge, don't worry no one was hurt
We found lot's of streams and rivers and even managed to get lost - well we didn't, it was dad!

Luther managed to find a really boggy stream which he almost got stuck in - he's a boy!
High above Pentewan on our way back along the cliffs

'F**k me Luth, it's a long way down there, no wonder we're on leads!'
There were about 200 steps down to Portmellon Beach, these are the last few!
Well worth it though

I think that Luther is liking the holiday idea
Inside The Kings Arms - again!
Another day, another walk, this one was about six miles from St Mawes to St Just and back. Dad's getting good with his 'Map My Walk' app! - apparently!

Hot dogs
Bench posing

St Just in Roseland Church. 'To many people the most beautiful churchyard on earth' according to former poet laureate Sir John Betjeman

Nearly there
Breakfast time in Mevagissey
Back to Portmellon Beach for another swim, it was only about a miles walk from where we were staying
We're 'The Boys Of Summer' - nobody on the beach. Well actually there was a f**kin' miserable Alsatian, but we ignored him - wanker!
Look who came for a swim - the Walrus!
Poor old Luther...
got dunked!
Hahaha - it didn't put him off though

The Fountain Inn - the oldest pub in Mevagissey

The last supper in Cornwall

More clothes shopping, hasn't she got enough already? Dad say's that he'll never understand women, what chance have we got?
'What do you think of this one boys? 'Yeah it's okay' 'Good, I'll buy it!
The Harbour Tavern
That is a serious piece of Cod!
So that was Cornwall, but just before we left dad did another Park Run. This one was in the grounds of Lanhydrock House, near Bodmin
We stopped off there on our way to Totnes in Devon, which meant the holiday was nearly over
The Cott Inn, me and Luther quite liked it here

Look, mum's got her new top on lol!
Outside catering

Our last day of the holiday before the long drive home. We went to Goodrington Sands for one final swim
That's the 'No dogs allowed' side
An appropriate Pokemon
Our side - less busy

One last 'selfie'
After swimming we drove around the coast to Brixham

'The Guns of Brixham' - if you like The Clash you'll get the title

What a great holiday that was, me and Luther were thoroughly spoilt, as we should be! I know he cannot wait to go away again, I'd like to go to France with him one day, although I don't know if we'll be allowed in there, now that we've 'Brexited'.
Who knows what the future holds?

See you next time.

Love from Rudie THE Dog xx
