Being a dog I never know what's happening from one day to the next, I just veg around and go with flow. As long as I get fed and go for walks I'm happy to fit in.
Imagine my surprise when I jumped in the car and found my bed in the back and my crate folded up on the back seat, not the norm for a walk, were they about to send me away or get rid of me all together? I haven't been that bad, surely!
Mmmm I don't whats going on here, my bed, toys and even a quilt! |
What I didn't expect was to be going on holiday, to be honest I didn't even know what a holiday was, why would I? I'm always on holiday, I don't work, need money or get stressed!
I had quite an interesting journey, in between having a chew on my Antler's horn and having a kip I was watching the roads through the back window. I had never seen so many cars and lorries before, there was even an eight lane motorway called the M25 where everyone seemed to stop still on it every now and then, I couldn't work that out so went back to sleep.
It took us seven hours to drive to St Agnes in Cornwall and once we got the key's to our cottage and unpacked we went straight to the pub!
This is the lane by our cottage, I went for a morning walk up here everyday. It was lined with a stone wall and I wondered what was the other side of it. I would find out later in the week! |
Trevaunance Cove beach |
All dogs had to be kept on a lead here, even in the water, which was a pain in the arse. Dad would have let me go swimming on my own, but mum was a bit paranoid about getting in to trouble with the lifeguards |
After the swim we went for a walk along the cliffs |
Then it was ice cream time |
That Cornish ice cream is really nice |
The pubs in Cornwall were very dog friendly, everywhere we went there was water and most of them gave me treats |
Saturday night at the Peterville Inn. Johnny who worked behind the bar was the ladies whose cottage we were renting son, I made good friends with him |
Strawberry jam & clotted cream scones for breakfast |
Sunday morning at Perranporth and dads made a purchase |
The beaches were lovely in Cornwall |
This is Trevellas Porth beach in St Agnes |
Unfortunately I didn't go swimming |
Back in the Peterville Inn for Sunday lunch |
Whilst it may well have been a holiday for me and dad, mum had to work. She is head of retail in the South of England for a charity and was visiting shops in Cornwall to make sure that everything was okay. We went along with her and did our own thing while she was working. This is Truro Cathedral |
This is a statue of a Cornish miner in Redruth, funny old place |
Out for another walk |
This time to the Taphouse |
"Look at these beaches" Tuesday morning in Newquay |
I loved it here, swimming in the rock pools... |
... and running around on the massive beaches |
Plenty of the first two, but not much of the third - not that I'm admitting anything! Stop it I'm too young! |
You see lot's of these VW camper vans |
We went to Padstow on the way home, that Rick Stien cooking bloke off the tele has got a load of restaurants here |
My evening walk... |
... to the pub |
Wednesday in St Ives |
After mum finished work we drove down to Lands End. Not the warmest place in England! |
The obligatory picture |
Back in St Agnes, this is Wheal Coates Tin Mine |
Afterwards we went for a Hedgehog ice cream at Chapel Porth Beach, not that I got much |
On Thursday after mum finished work we found a dog friendly beach called Duckpool near to Bude. I wanted to have one last swim before going home. |
It was a massive beach and dad came in swimming again, this time no leads were used. He took me right out and then let me surf in on a big wave. I was a bit freaked out by this and didn't do it anymore |
Another walk along the cliffs at Wheal Coates |
Another visit to the Driftwood Spars on our last night |
I went for a walk up the lane before we left for the journey home |
All week long dad had encouraged me to climb the walls along the lane |
They must have been four or five feet tall and it made him laugh watching leap up them... |
...until I appeared from the other side covered in horse shit! |
They were not amused, but I got to go for a swim in the stream at the bottom of the lane... |
...which washed most of it out but apparently I still stunk |
Homeward bound, suffice to say that I didn't get the quilt or my bed to lie on for the journey |
Another bonus swim, when we got back to Ipswich we stopped so I could wash away the remains of the horsey smells! |
I have to say that I really enjoyed my week away, I got lots of fuss and attention
from everybody that I met, it made me feel quite important. If mum & dad didn't know it before they certainly found out that I'm a hunting, fishing, shooting kind of a guy!
